Phoenix rising from embers
PSL · Strategy & Product Brief
FENIX.
Rise above the AI reset.

A personalized AI-upskilling platform for professionals whose jobs are at risk from AI. It trains them on the work they actually do, then certifies it.

A professional dissolving into rising embers
01 · The moment

A super-cycle is rewriting how people work, and they know it.

02 · Why now

AI is already taking the tasks, not just the headlines.

Exposure measures task overlap, not headcount loss. The fear driving these searches is real and specific.

Fenix LearningThe task-level shift
03 · The counter-intuitive truth

The most AI-disrupted workers are the worst customers.

Support reps, junior devs, admin assistants, and designers are the most exposed. But they earn little, have no CE mandate, and are being cut rather than retrained.

The highest-volume search vertical, teachers, barely monetizes: huge traffic at roughly $0.75 CPC, and the buying is gated by school districts.

THE RULE

Sell accredited AI-CE that fills a mandate. Don't sell "learn AI before it takes your job."

The best customer earns a mid-to-high income and has a license or CE requirement that AI content can satisfy.

05 · The recommendation

The wedge: the Accounting and Tax CE cluster.

Accountants, enrolled agents, auditors, and tax preparers form one expandable wedge. They share the same IRS, NASBA, and state CE regimes, overlap in membership, and sell through the same channels. One AI-CE library covers four credentials.

  • Every state requires 120 CE hours every 3 years, and that requirement accepts AI content.
  • Enrolled agents fit best. The IRS mandates 72 hours every 3 years, and most are self-employed, so they pay out of pocket.

No incumbent owns a personalized, role-specific AI-upskilling tool sold to the individual. Section had it and fled to enterprise. That gap is the white space.

Fenix LearningWhere the white space is
08 · The product thesis

The product is the closed loop.

Content is a commodity now. The defensible part is the loop: diagnose the gap, make you practice on your real work, assess you rigorously, then certify it. Every free alternative breaks somewhere in that loop.

ChatGPT or Claudeno accountability
It teaches anything, but it can't diagnose your gap, won't make you practice, and proves nothing. You quit in week two with the illusion of competence.
YouTube or Udemypassive video
Watching builds familiarity, not skill. Completion runs 5 to 23%. Fenix puts doing first, and video is just a 90-second primer.
Courseraone-size-fits-all
A CPA and a marketer sit through the same intro course, graded by multiple choice, certificate auto-issued. We personalize, and we assess on a real artifact.
1:1 tutoring$80 to $200/hr
It works, but it doesn't scale, doesn't know your stack, and leaves no credential. We deliver the Socratic, context-aware part at software margins, around the clock.
Fenix LearningWhy we beat "just use ChatGPT"
09 · The product

A full e-learning tool, not a course library.

A

Onboarding interview

A conversation that reads your LinkedIn or resume and turns it into a skill-gap profile across 8 AI competencies.

B

Personalized pathway

A living curriculum tied to your role and your tools, ordered by mastery. It re-diagnoses and reshuffles as you go.

C

Work on real tasks

Assignments use your next real task, coached live in a sandbox against frontier models.

D

Grounded AI coach

It knows your context. It asks before it tells, so it catches the illusion of competence.

E

Rigorous certification

A graded real-work capstone, light proctoring, and a portfolio produce a credential that carries weight.

F

Spaced repetition

Active recall, streaks, and accountability. This is the half of the value that ChatGPT-DIY never provides.

10 · Inside a lesson

Video is the minority case.

Watching is where skill goes to die. A Fenix lesson is built around doing, with five formats and only one of them passive.

90-second primerset-up only
Just enough concept (text, a diagram, or a short clip) to get you started. It is never the lesson itself.
Interactive walkthroughguided
Step by step inside the real tool: "now you try this step," with live feedback on what you did.
AI roleplay and simpressure-test
Rehearse a tense client or stakeholder conversation against an LLM playing the counterpart.
Work on real tasksthe keystone
Paste your actual upcoming task, get coached through doing it with AI, then submit the artifact.
Retrieval drillsmake it stick
Spaced active-recall cards built from what you covered, resurfaced right before you would forget.
Fenix LearningActive, not passive
11 · How personalization works

From "tell me about you" to a credential.

01

Interview

Role, tools, fears, and goal. Drop a LinkedIn or resume and we parse it.

02

Diagnose

8 to 12 applied probes produce a numeric skill-gap profile, not trivia.

03

Generate

A pathway tied to your role's real jobs, sequenced by mastery.

04

Practice

Do it on real work. The coach adapts the difficulty as you go.

05

Certify

A capstone plus rubric grading produces a verifiable, renewable credential.

Every interview, graded artifact, and "did it transfer?" check-in becomes proprietary data that sharpens our diagnosis across thousands of roles. ChatGPT does not have your skill-gap graph. We do.

Fenix LearningThe compounding moat
12 · A day-one walkthrough

Meet Dana, a staff accountant.

Six years in, she lives in QuickBooks and Excel. She signs up afraid AI will absorb the junior work she does, and pastes her LinkedIn so Fenix can read her role and her real workflow.

SIGN-UP

Diagnosed

The probe finds her real risk: she would trust an AI reconciliation that hides an error.

PATHWAY

6 real jobs

Month-end close with AI, reconciliations that catch errors, client-ready variance notes, and more.

LESSON 1

Her own books

She pastes a real reconciliation, and the coach walks her through doing it and catching the planted error.

CAPSTONE

Graded close

A full AI-assisted close for a real client, with a documented verification step. Rubric-graded, lightly proctored.

OUTCOME

Certified and CPE

A verifiable credential on LinkedIn, CPE hours satisfied. She closes the books faster and has shipped zero AI errors.

An illustrative journey for the primary wedge. It maps one to one onto the five product surfaces.

Fenix LearningSignup to certificate
13 · The credential

A certificate worth paying for.

Auto-issued, watch-all-the-videos certificates are worthless, and everyone knows it. The value comes from rigor and a trusted brand.

So we build the rigor in, and we never auto-issue the tier that matters.

Insight: a Harvard Extension professor, 20 years in online education.

  • A graded capstone built from real work in your domain, not a multiple-choice quiz.
  • Scenario assessment, rubric-graded by AI with a human or peer spot-check.
  • Light proctoring on the final: an identity check and a webcam snapshot, flagged rather than heavy.
  • Your real artifacts travel with the credential as a portfolio.
  • A verifiable page that shows what was assessed and how, ready for LinkedIn.
  • CE and CPE accreditation, the one moat free tools legally cannot cross.
Fenix LearningRigor is the value
14 · Go-to-market

Capture intent, don't interrupt it.

  • SEO as real editorial, not a template farm. A pillar and cluster per profession that covers the fear query, tool roundups, task tutorials, and prompts. Roughly 50 to 150 differentiated pages, each carrying its own data.
  • GEO so ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews cite us. Direct quotes lift citations about 41%, on top of our own statistics and presence on third-party sites. We publish an original AI Job-Risk Index.
  • A warm B2B2C channel through Mississippi state government, grant-funded, with the first pilot priced under the $15K micro-purchase line.
WHY META FAILED

Paid social interrupts a low-intent feed with a fear-loaded, high-consideration purchase.

3% CTR, $18 per email, 0 purchases. Search is demand capture, because the intent is already there. AI referrals convert 4 to 11 times organic.

17 · Before we commit

One question decides the wedge.

VERIFY FIRST

Will a state board, NASBA, or the IRS accredit an AI curriculum for CPE or CE credit?

The whole "recurring, accredited, must-buy" thesis for accountants and advisors rests on this answer. It is also the moat free tools legally cannot cross. If it is blocked, we lean on real estate's mature CE marketplace, or we anchor the certificate on rigor and employer recognition alone.
